About Barbara Daugherty
I'm an abstract landscape painter and a Certified Occupational Health Nurse. My paintings are signed originals in acrylic and ink on canvas, each sold with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Artist Statement
I create abstract paintings designed to bring atmosphere, depth, and translate feelings into a visual image. My work is intended for people who want to live with art that continues to reveal itself over time rather than deliver a single, immediate message.
What draws me to abstraction is its flexibility and individual interpretation. A painting can feel calm, charged, spacious, or intimate depending on the light, the setting, and the viewer's own experience. That flexibility is important to me. I want the work to have enough structure to feel complete, while still remaining open enough to hold your attention over time.
Abstract art offers a different kind of relationship with art. It does not depend on explanation or narrative closure. Instead, it invites repeated viewing and personal interpretation, allowing the work to remain active in daily life rather than becoming visually settled too quickly.
